St. Francis Xavier-an acrostic
I read in facebook that there is to be a reunion of students and teachers of SFX on the 7th of this month at school.
I would like to share [with all the reunion -attending and non-attending , past ,present and future students, teachers and nuns] some of the things I learnt and gained from my eleven years of boarding life at SFX.
Sharing-from tuck and pickle to secrets
Tolerance [remember the castor oil which followed eating the forbidden raw
mangoes?]
Friends , coupled with fun and faith
Respect –respect for all the elders
Anger Management[ didn’t talk back after an admonishment for undone
homework or failed test]
Nostalgia for our Alma Mater, friends and the years gone by
Character development and courage[our motto-Faith and Courage]
Independence[no mum or dad nearby to run to]
Sense of sensibility
Xenophobic be not [we were an exciting mix of boarders from all over the
world]
Adjusting- to rules and food to hemlines
Values of ethics [ right from fairy tales and Aesop’s fables to our Moral Science
Values of ethics [ right from fairy tales and Aesop’s fables to our Moral Science
classes]
Integrity [we may have fibbed as kids but now none can doubt our integrity]
Education and enjoyment [Enlightenment also, I hope]
R-the three Rs-reading, ’riting and ‘rithmetic ,and plenty more
