My Grammar Prayer

Teaching English was interesting but teaching English Grammar....Well,that was tough-first trying to recollect what I was taught in school sufficiently long ,long ago and then trying to get my students to remember all that jargon. The juggling and struggling prompted me to pen this verse:

With a prayer I go to bed

To stop the bedlam pounding my head.

I pray that my waking hours

Help me to make the students stars.

Nouns, Adjectives and Adverbs-

To help me with them, are there any herbs?

Singular or Plural, Masculine or Feminine?

The answers should easily fall in line.

Definite Article or Indefinite Article?

Clear me of that muddle.

Prepositions and Pronouns

Shouldn’t have me in frowns.

Active Voice and Passive Voice-

Let them not make me lose my poise.

Regular, Irregular, Strong and Weak Verbs-

They shouldn’t stump me with curbs.

Is it Past, Present or Future Tense?

Please remove that doubt’s fence.

Transitive, Intransitive and Infinitive-

Do we need to know them all to live?

Terms like Gerund, Clause and Subjunctive

Shouldn’t make my confusion hyperactive.

Conjunctions and Punctuation

Shouldn't fill me with trepidation.

In short, God, please help me

Master Grammar from A to Z.
